Application note No. 27 E

Event analysis with the DATALOGGER 686

What is measured?

The voltage between L1, L2 and L3, and N. The voltage’s effective value is calculated every 10ms using the individual sampling values. If the measured voltage value is below or above the limiting values defined - Un±10% according to EN 50160 - the time, duration and extreme value of such an event are captured. A standard measurement lasts for one week. In addition to events, the remaining voltage quality parameters are recorded pursuant to EN 50160.

Measurement utilisation

Information on voltage dips or overvoltages. The measurement provides answers to the following questions:

The advantages of the DATALOGGER 686

Measurement connection and point

Measurement interpretation

With a measuring object, the voltage quality is to be examined focusing on brief voltage dips because complaints about failing computers have recently increased. Therefore, a one-week measurement with the DATALOGGER 686 is conducted.

According to the graphical summary, events, as well as voltage interruptions (Umeas<1% Un) did occur.

The Dis-Dip table shows that most events last 10-100ms and that the depth of the respective dips is 15-30 %.

For detailed analysis, the events can be evaluated in a table. This form of presentation indicates the exact time of occurrence, the duration, the 10ms-extreme value, as well as the phase.

These information aid in drawing valuable conclusions regarding the events’ cause with the actual time and the temporary accumulation of events being the most important indicators when searching for the disturbance. On the other hand, the extreme value and the duration indicate the event’s degree of criticality.
